Ash Wednesday worship Experience at The Summit Church

Wednesday, March 5 | 6:30pm

This Ash Wednesday, we will be hosting a worship experience as the Lent season begins. We’ll be encouraged and challenged to be with Jesus, become like Him and do as He did in the days leading up to Easter.

What is Ash Wednesday?

Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of the season of Lent. Lent is a time when many believers prepare their hearts for what's to come at Easter by observing 40 days of fasting, repentance, moderation and spiritual discipline. It's a time to really focus on what Jesus has done so that we can be able to celebrate His resurrection at Easter.

Our Ash Wednesday experience focuses on helping us to realize that we are broken and sinful and our desperate need for a Savior.

Why do people put ashes on their foreheads?

Typically at the end of an Ash Wednesday experience, ashes will be lightly rubbed onto the foreheads of people in the sign of the cross. The use of ashes as a sign of mortality and repentance. Historically, ashes signified purification and sorrow for sins.

if I come, do I have to get ashes on my forehead?
