Ash Wednesday Experience at The Summit Church

Wednesday, February 14 | 4pm-6pm

This Ash Wednesday, we will be providing you with a time of reflection as the Lent season begins and we prepare our hearts for Easter. We hope you will join us in the Chapel for this come and go experience.

What is Ash Wednesday?

Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of the season of Lent. Lent is a time when many believers prepare their hearts for what's to come at Easter by observing 40 days of fasting, repentance, moderation and spiritual discipline. It's a time to really focus on what Jesus has done so that we can be able to celebrate His resurrection at Easter.

Our Ash Wednesday experience focuses on helping us to realize that we are broken and sinful and our desperate need for a Savior.

How long will the experience take?

This experience can last as long as you would like it to. Although we are providing a guide and instructions throughout the experience, it is self-guided, and you’ll get out of it what you put into it! We would suggest planning on 15-20 minutes to complete the experience.

Why do people put ashes on their foreheads?

Typically at the end of an Ash Wednesday experience, ashes will be lightly rubbed onto the foreheads of people in the sign of the cross. The use of ashes as a sign of mortality and repentance. Historically, ashes signified purification and sorrow for sins.
